1937 Born in the city of Mosul, and is considered to be from the generation of the sixties.
His father was an officer in the Ottoman army and took care of his son's talent since childhood, for his attempts to draw with pencils on cardboard.
During elementary school, he had experiments by drawing portraits of relatives and neighbors, and his talent continued until middle school.
1948 His initial endeavor was to organize an art exhibition with the artist Hazem Al-Atrakji. This exhibition was one of the first in the city of Mosul at the time. He contributed several works to the exhibition, including drawings of nature and portraits of people.
After joining the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad, he was taught by senior professors including Jewad Selim, Ata Sabri, and Faik Hassan. Throughout his studies, he had the opportunity to meet with many artists of that period and learn from them. This greatly influenced his painting style and method, leading to the development of his artistic experience.
1956 Graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad. He participated in an exhibition at the Armenian School in Mosul with a group of artists, including Hazem Al-Atrakji, Luqman Al-Sheikh, Hanna Abdul-Ahad, Ibrahim Haffodhy, and Ibrahim Haidaran.
He moved to Samawah and worked as an art teacher.
He then moved to Zakho and then to Baghdad, where he participated in most of the Pioneers’ exhibitions of that period.
1959 Held an important solo exhibition titled “Art and Revolution” to pay tribute to July 14, 1958. After this, he traveled to Spain to study art and work in the field of artistic and cultural journalism there.
While there, he viewed the paintings and experiences of Pablo Picasso, El Greco, and other Spanish and vernacular artists. This helped refine his talent and experience as the influences of the Spanish Impressionist School began to appear in his paintings.
1980s Traveled to Saudi Arabia to study painting there and then returned to Iraq.
1986 Held several solo exhibitions in Iraq, entitled “My City and Other Cities” and “Iraqi Eyes”.
His style was close to that of the impressionist school, featuring a sense of transparency and delicacy.
He was deeply connected to his city of Mosul and constantly sought out its beauty. He frequently looked for people and scenes that reflected the local heritage. He meticulously documented his life and his city, capturing them with transparent and professional watercolors.
He painted numerous paintings and portraits reflecting the nature and characters of various regions, such as Bashiqa and Bahzani, north of Mosul. He employed a variety of techniques and compositions to showcase many significant works.
1995 Passed away at the age of fifty-eight and was buried in Mosul.
