  • 1960 Artist Kareem Risan was born in the capital, Baghdad, Iraq.
  • 1967 - 1978 He completed his primary, middle and secondary school studies in Baghdad.
  • 1984 - 1988 He studied and graduated from the painting department at the Academy of Fine Arts in Baghdad.
  • 1985 He participated in the first Youth Festival and won the Appreciation Award, the twelfth anniversary of the ruling party exhibition, and the Contemporary Iraqi Art exhibition in Baghdad.
  • 1986 He participated in the Frederickstaad Graphic Biennale in Norway and the first Baghdad International Festival of Fine Art in Baghdad.
  • 1987 He participated in Al Wasiti Festival and won the second drawing prize and the second Youth Festival, and won the Faiq Hassan Silver Painting Prize in Baghdad.
  • 1988 He participated in the second Baghdad International Festival for Plastic Art and the third Cairo International Biennale for Plastic Art in Egypt and won the prize of the Committee and the exhibition "Between Tigris and Euphrates" at the Arab World Institute in Paris.
  • 1990 He participated in the Cagnes-sur-Mer Festival in France.
  • 1992 He held his first solo exhibition at Saddam Art Center in Baghdad, and participated in the Mahres International Exhibition in Tunis and the exhibition of artists of the eighties generation organized by the artist, Rafi al-Nasiri, at the Iraqi Architecture Club in Baghdad.
  • 1993 He participated in the University of Nevada exhibition in the United States of America, the exhibition of three Iraqi artists at the Shoman Foundation in Amman, and the exhibition "Today's Artists, Tomorrow's Artists" at Al-Ain Hall in Baghdad, and won the first prize.
  • 1994 He held his second solo exhibition at Nadhar Gallery of Art in Baghdad and participated in the Chair exhibition at Darat al Funun in Amman.
  • 1995 He participated in an exhibition of four artists at Baghdad Hall.
  • 1996 He held his third solo exhibition in his studio and participated in an exhibition of four Iraqi artists at the Foreign Cultural House in Copenhagen, Denmark.
  • 1997 He held his fourth solo exhibition at Dar Al-Mashreq in Amman, Jordan, and participated in an exhibition of four Iraqi artists at the Shambela Hall in Copenhagen, Denmark.
  • 1998 He held his fifth solo exhibition at the French Cultural Center in Baghdad, participated in the Mahres International Exhibition in Tunis and won the Golden Prize.
  • 1999 He participated in the Cairo International Graphic Triennial in Egypt and the Iraqi Graphic Exhibition at Darat Al Funun in Amman.
  • 2000 He participated in the "Mesopotamia" exhibition at the Darat al Funun in Amman, the Cairo International Triennial for Graphics in Egypt, the Contemporary Iraqi Art Exhibition at the Brunei Gallery in London, the exhibition "Seven Artists from Iraq from the Siege Generation" at the Institute of the Arab World in Paris and the Contemporary Art Gallery in The Museum of Modern Art in Caracas, Venezuela, and an exhibition with the artists Hana Malallah and Ghassan Gha’eb, at Athr Gallery of Art in Baghdad.
  • 2001 He participated in the exhibition of contemporary Iraqi art at the National Museum in Beijing.
  • 2002 He participated in the exhibition of contemporary Arab artists at the Institute of the Arab World in Paris, the exhibition "Three Iraqi Artists" at the Athr Art Gallery in Baghdad, the exhibition "Seven Iraqi Artists" at Dar Al-Bareh in Bahrain, and the third Baghdad International Fine Art Festival.
  • 2003 He participated in the exhibition "The Broken Crafts Exhibition of Contemporary Arab Artists" at the Kunst Halle Darmestadt in Germany and the exhibition "Five Contemporary Iraqi Artists" in Green Art Gallery in Dubai and the exhibition "Iraq (Before, After, Now)" at the Deluxe Gallery in London and an exhibition "Summer Art Qatar" at Bisan Gallery in Qatar.
  • 2004 He held a solo exhibition at Dar Al-Anda in Amman and participated in the exhibition "Artists' Notebooks, Ten Iraqi Artists, the International Book Fair" in Frankfurt, Germany, and the exhibition "Greetings to Shaker Hassan Al Said" at the Orfali Hall in Amman.
  • 2005 He held a solo exhibition at Al-Riwaq Hall in Bahrain and participated in the exhibition "Greetings to Shaker Hassan Al Said, Greetings to Ismael Fattah" at Athr Art Gallery in Baghdad, Iraqi Art Gallery at the East West Foundation in Amsterdam in the Netherlands, and an exhibition "Creative Improvisations - Seven Iraqi Artists" and an exhibition with the artists Hana Malallah and Ghassan Ga’eb at Athr Gallery of Art in Baghdad.
  • 2006 He participated in the exhibition of modern Iraqi art at the Montparnasse Museum in Paris, France, the exhibition "Word of Art for Middle Eastern Artists" at the British Museum in London in the United Kingdom, and the exhibition "Art Books of Contemporary Iraqi Artists" at the University of Minnesota in the United States of America.
  • 2007 He participated in the exhibition "Art Books of Contemporary Iraqi Artists" at the Art Books Center in New York, in the United States of America.
  • 2008 He participated in the exhibition "Iraqi Artists in Exile" at Station Museum in Houston, Texas, USA.
  • 2009 He held a solo exhibition entitled "Graffiti" at the Hitit Gallery in Toronto, in which 15 new works were exhibited and participated in the exhibition "Modern Art in Iraq" at the Wallach Gallery at Columbia University in New York.
  • 2010 He participated in an exhibition of six artists entitled "My Home" at Art Sawa Gallery in Dubai, UAE, and an exhibition of seven artists entitled "After the War" at Melanie Heller Gallery in New York.
  • 2015 He held a solo exhibition entitled "Another City's Memory" at Al Markhiya Gallery, in cooperation with the Katara Art Center in Doha, Qatar.
  • 2017 He held a solo exhibition with the artist Marwan Karim in Mississauga, Canada.
  • 2019 He held a solo exhibition entitled "The Votive Tablet" at Al-Riwaq Hall in Bahrain.
  • 2019 – 2020 He participated in an exhibition "Objects of Imagination – Contemporary Arab Ceramics" in Jordan National Museum Gallery with the participation of forty Arab artists from different Arab countries in Amman.
  • He lives and works full-time in fine art in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
  • Member of the Iraqi Artists Association.
