  • 1943 Artist Amer Al-Obaidi was born in Najaf, Iraq, into a well-off family.
  • 1953 - 1954 His interest in art began at 10 years old.
  • 1961 He studied at the Institute of Fine Arts, and artists Ibrahim Zayer, Faik Hussein and Salman Abbas were in the same class, and his teachers were the artists Faik Hassan, Ghaleb Nahi, Ismail Al-Cheikhli and Hashem Al-Baghdadi.
  • 1965 He participated in an international exhibition in Ibiza, Spain, and won the first prize, and joined the "Group of Innovators" founded by artists such as Saleh Al-Jumaie, Talib Mekki, Nidaa Kadhum, Faik Hussein and Salim Al-Dabbagh, and participated in their first exhibition.
  • 1969 He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of Baghdad, and obtained a BA from it.
  • 1970 He held a solo exhibition at Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and was a poster designer in the Iraqi Ministry of Information.
  • 1972 He participated in an exhibition at the Iraqi Museum of Fine Arts in Baghdad and was appointed as Director of Exhibitions in the Department of Fine Arts, and continued in this profession for 23 years.
  • 1973 He was appointed as a Director of the National Museum of Modern Art in Baghdad and continued in this position for nearly nine years.
  • 1974 He participated in the New Delhi Triennial in India, the Cultural Festival of the Revolution newspaper and the first anniversary of the ruling party exhibition at the Academy of Arts hall in Baghdad and the first Arab Biennale exhibition in Baghdad.
  • 1975 He participated in the second anniversary of the ruling party exhibition at the Iraqi Museum of Modern Art in Baghdad.
  • 1976 He participated in the Fifth International Biennale in São Paulo, Brazil, and the third anniversary of the ruling party exhibition at the National Museum of Modern Art in Baghdad.
  • 1977 He participated in the fourth anniversary of the ruling party exhibition at the National Museum of Modern Art in Baghdad.
  • 1978 - Participated in the fifth anniversary of the ruling party exhibition at the National Museum of Modern Art in Baghdad and an exhibition at Al-Alawiya Club in Baghdad and the Gallery of Arab Artists. He was appointed as Secretary of the National Committee for Plastic Arts at UNESCO, and he continued in this position for 14 years.
  • 1980 He participated in the seventh anniversary of the ruling party exhibition in the hall of the National Museum of Modern Art in Baghdad and "Group 17" exhibition of modern art in the hall of the National Museum of Modern Art in Baghdad.

  • 1993 He participated in the art biennial in Bangladesh.
  • 1995 He held a solo exhibition containing forty paintings at the National Museum of Modern Art in Baghdad.
  • 2000 He participated in the exhibition "Magic of Moments in Nature and Place" at Gallery Art in Baghdad.
  • 2006 The artist went out with his family to shop in Baghdad, so he, his wife Sawsan and their daughter Badoor got out of the car and left their son Badr in the car, and in moments, two bombs exploded in the place they were in that killed his 29-year-old son and injured his wife due to shrapnel, which later led to the amputation of her right leg, after a month he received an envelope from an unknown person containing a threatening letter and a bullet, so the artist and his family decided to leave Iraq as fast as possible.
  • 2007 He traveled with his family to Syria, and they stayed there for a year until they completed their file of asylum in USA.
  • 2008 He traveled with his family to the United States of America and reside there. He held a solo exhibition at Heritage Gallery, and another exhibition at Wesley House Gallery in Iowa.
  • 2009 He held a solo exhibition at the Heritage Gallery in Iowa.
  • 2015 He held his tenth solo exhibition entitled "Lost in the Maze of Immigration" in Iowa.
  • 2019 He participated in an exhibition of contemporary plastic artists from Iraq at the Ras Al-Ain Gallery in Amman.
  • He lives and works in his own studio full-time in Iowa until now with his family.
