1950 The Artist Murtadha Shihab Haddad was born in Basra, Iraq.
1957 - 1967 He completed his primary, middle and high school studies in Basra.
1975 - 1979 He studied and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, Italy, and obtained a BA in Fine Arts - Sculpture.
1976 He participated in the Venice Biennale in Italy.
1979 He studied the art of medals at the Medal and Coinage School in Rome, Italy.
1987 He made a bronze mural at Basra International Airport.
1988 He obtained a master's degree in Plastic Arts - Sculpture.
1989 He held a solo sculptures’ exhibition at Al-Riwaq Hall in Baghdad.
1993 He held a solo sculptures’ exhibition at Al-Orfali Hall in Baghdad.
2004 He obtained a PhD in Philosophy of Fine Arts - Sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of Baghdad, and was awarded the rank of professorship.
2014 He held a solo exhibition entitled "Portrait".
2016 He won the Iraqi Creativity Prize in the category of sculpture by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities in Baghdad.
2020 He held a virtual solo exhibition entitled "Memories in the Time of the Pandemic", organized by the Public Arts Department of the Iraqi Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, in which 15 of his sculptural works were exhibited.
He lives in Baghdad and works as a professor of art at the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of Baghdad.
